About Emission Trading Experts: CantorCO2e

CantorCO2e Offset Project

CantorCO2e offsets the greenhouse gas emissions created as a result of its global activities by supporting the Canguçu hybrid solar-hydrogen generation project in Tocantins, Brazil.

The project is run by the Ecologica Institute, which carries out climate change research in the Amazon.  The diesel generator at the Tocantins research centre has been replaced by a combination of flexible solar panels and a hydrogen fuel cell.  Surplus solar energy is stored during the day in the form of hydrogen, which can then be used as primary energy source during the night.

This pilot project is the first of its type in an isolated location.  The research centre is vital to the conservation and understanding of biodiversity in a unique, fragile ecosystem, between the Amazonian rainforest and the Brazilian savannah.
